The Alexamenos Graffito, c. 200 CE, is a sketch that was found on Palatine Hill in Rome, sketched onto a bathroom wall in a prep school for Roman boys, and depicts a free person gesturing at a crucified person, namely Jesus Christ, who has the head of a donkey. Many have asserted that this image is an early [if not the earliest] representation of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This being the case, because there is an inscription on the cartoon that reads, “”Alexamenos worships [his] god,””.
